My Fun-Hurting-Same-Time DAY!

I wrote this story when I was in 4th grade, just 9 years old. Please excuse my errors; I wanted to conserve my way of writing when I was that age.

"Uh!" I grumbled in a bored and tired way. "Oh, I wish I could go out to play with Dulce, Rocío, and Joan." I thought for a moment: "If I would ask my dad to play, he would tell me to put on my tennis shoes and to also wear a nice shirt to go out to play." So before I asked him, I changed my clothes and got ready to go outside. When I was ready, he gave me permission and I opened the fence. My sister came running after me.

We went on to Dulce's house which is riht in front of mine. She came out with nothing to play with. We played "2CS1RL," which means "two chasing scooters and one running legs" (runs fasts with the legs). We three got tired of playing this. Then we wanted to know what Joan and Rocío were doing. Maybe, they would have a better idea to play. We invited them and at last Joan came with the idea of skating shoes.

Everyone went into their houses and put on their skating shoes. Karen went out and asked why everyone was going into their houses. "We are going to play with our skating shoes," Gaby told her. "Do you want to play and put them on?"

She was the first one to come out with her skating shoes. She entered to my backyard. My dad got down our whole big bunch of skating things: shoes, knee and elbow protectors, helmets, etc.

We have four (4) pairs of skating shoes. The first one was "Barbies," just for four (4) to six (6) year old children. I was ten, so I couldn't use them. The second pair, I was tying a knot when "plick!", the laces had torn in half, because I pulled them too hard. The third pair was yellow and just the right size and they weren't heavy, but there was one important thing: Gaby was already using them. So finally, the last pair of skiting shoes were red, a bigger size, heavier, and more difficult to tie, but they were the only ones left. So I put them on. When I finished, everyone was out playing. So we played on, all together.

We played near our house. Then we played near Rocío's and Joan's house. We wanted to skate from thier gate to the middle of the sidewalk. So I hold on to their gate. I grabbed it hard because of three reasons:
  1. I was scared;
  2. I was swinging with my skates from left to right many times; and
  3. There was the little step nearby that I was scared of.
I was there like about 5 minutes when Gaby took hold me (I was backwards), but I was too heavy for her. My hands were very slippery, and then I couldn't hold on to it anymore. I fell on MY BUTTOCKS and bounced about 2 times! I just turned around and looked at my mom and everyone else. I got the impression that they wouldn't help me up.

So I picked myself up with the skating shoes and went to my house inside, to my parent's bedroom. My back hurt and I thought that if I did 100 standing abdominals, then my back wouldn't hurt. So I started: "1... 2... 3... 4... etc."

My mom opened the door and I was by number 47 on my abdominals: "47... 48... 49... 50..." My mother stopped me and told me to relax in her bed for a few minutes and to not move.

After I felt better, I invited all my friends to see the movie, SPIRIT, at my house.

They asked their mothers and of course they said "Yes." First we cleaned up everything. I made little papers which meant a chore to do before seeing the movie. Gaby and Joan took out the paper that said, "Pick up the yellow table with your partner and put it in the backyard." Dulce took out the little paper which said, "Fold the blue chair, bring it and give it to me." And Karen had the little paper that said, "Lock the door after everyone and nothing stays out."

When we were all finished, I put some popcorn in the microwave. And Gaby brought our visitors to our television room. So we wouldn't waste time, I prepared our VHS and turned the lights off. After 3 minutes I stood up and went to the kitchen to pick up the popcorn. It was almost done. When it was done I opened the bag and put it in the 2 big white plastic containers. We went on seeing the movie.

We were halfway on the container when Karen without asking me got a whole bunch of popcorn, but I let her do it. It was her problem. And also, she was a guest. Gaby and Joan had much more popcorn than we had. When we, Karen, Dulce, and I, finished our popcorn, Gaby and Joan were still eating their popcorn very slowly.

When the movie ended I told everyone to hurry up because the movie lasted about 2 hours. Everyone has to go home again. When I was going out to leave Karen, all the mothers and Karen's grandmother were already on our gate. We thanked them all and said goodnight and goodbye.

When everyone left, I put on my pajamas, washed my teeth, and went to bed. I thanked God for all the good things of this nice and fun day, for all my friends and for my family. I also prayed to Him that my back and buttocks would stop hurting, because they still hurt a little bit. After that, I closed my eyes and didn't open them. I fell asleep, and went into deep happy dreams of my fun-hurting-same-time day.

THE END
