Summer Memories

At the beginning of June, my sister and I wanted to bake cookies and brownies to sell. My father told us that it would be great to sell them at my aunt's store in el Centro of San Pedro Sula. So for basically two and a half weeks, we baked and sold brownies there.

At the end of June, my grandmother died (my father's mom) in Tegucigalpa one Thursday. At that time, my father was in Utila, Bay Islands. But his sister told him about that quickly, and he was able to get the 2:00 pm trip to La Ceiba. We were on the way to selling our brownies when he called us. So we went back home to prepare our suitcases. When he got to La Ceiba, his brother-in-law went to pick him up in our car and immediately headed for San Pedro.

We were entering Tegucigalpa when at 10:15 a police stopped us. Why were we out when there was a strict curfew at 10:00 pm? My parents both got out of the car to explain the reason and the cop let us go through. We stopped 3 more times before we to my dad's brother-in-law's mama's house at 11:40. We went to my grandma's funeral the next day, and now we visit her at the cemetery in Tegus.
